Beever and Struthers significantly increases presence in the social housing and charity sectors with three key appointments and two new clients

Leading national accountancy firm Beever and Struthers has strengthened its presence in the social housing and not-for-profit sectors with the appointment of three new audit directors and a raft of new client wins in its London office.

Rory O’Carroll was formerly assistant finance director at Notting Hill Housing Trust.  Prior to this he was a senior manager at the London office of global accountants and business advisors Ernst and Young.  Rory has specialist expertise in treasury management, business and financial planning.

James Lambden previously operated his own accountancy practice with his wife Sylvia. He was previously finance director at Bethnal Green & Victoria Park Housing Association.

David Morrow has joined Beever and Struthers from Vantis, a Top 15 accountancy firm. David has particular expertise in working with charities and has achieved the ICAEW’s prestigious Diploma in Charity Finance.

The London office of Beever and Struthers has also recently won a number of new clients in the social housing sector including the North London Muslim Housing Association (NLMHA) and Hastoe Housing Association (Hastoe).

The NLMHA is the largest Muslim-led housing association in the UK, managing about 500 homes.

Hastoe owns and manages 3,800 rented, shared ownership and leasehold homes, of which 30% is managed on behalf of other associations operating in 56 local authority areas in London, the South East, South West and East Anglia.

Nick Stevens, partner in charge of Beever and Struthers’ London office, commented: “We are delighted with these three major new appointments, all of whom operate in sectors generally less susceptible to the consequences of the current economic downturn.

“They will further strengthen our position in the market providing audit and assurance services to the social housing and not for profit sectors – with particular emphasis on internal and external audit, investigations, due diligence and business plan reviews.

“It also means that Beever and Struthers’ London office is able to provide accounting and taxation services to smaller owner managed businesses for the first time.”

The firm was also ranked at six in the U.K for providers of audit services to RSLs in the Housing Associations Financial Yearbook 2007.
