Screenfields – Manchester City Centre’s First Open Air Cinema

Free Films, Live Sport and Music to be Screened all Summer at Spinningfields

Spinningfields is to host Manchester City Centre’s first ever open air cinema.

Screening classic and cult favourites including The Graduate, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Withnail and I and Monty Python and The Holy Grail, the free open air cinema will show films every Thursday evening at 9pm throughout the summer.

The Screenfields film fest kicks off with Academy Award Winning film The Duchess starring Keira Knightley tomorrow (Thursday 11th June), one of several ‘just missed at the cinema’ films to be shown on the big screen.

This summer’s biggest sporting events including the British Grand Prix, Wimbledon, The Ashes, Royal Ascot and the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles will also be shown on the 16.5 ft by 10 ft screen located in Hardman Square.

Classical music fans will be treated to a variety of prom concerts on the big screen, including ‘Last Night At The Proms’ live from the Royal Albert Hall.

Popcorn will be available for all film goers and the screenings can be enjoyed with a drink from a brand new Giraffe outdoor bar or a special hamper for two, costing £25 when pre-ordered 24 hours in advance from Carluccio’s at Spinningfields.

Summer deckchairs and picnic blankets will be available for hire to relax on the grass with friends and family.

Spinningfields, situated off Deansgate, is ideally located close to the city’s main shopping areas and offers an array of quality family eateries including Giraffe, Nando’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Carluccio’s, Strada, Wagamama and Samsi.
