Spinningfields ice rink returns with new Arctic attractions

Spinningfields is taking to the ice again this Christmas as it gears up to host one of Manchester’s favourite festive attractions.

Building upon last year’s success, Spinningfields will be transformed into a winter wonderland complete with dazzling ice rink and exciting new attractions including a magical carousel ride and temporary arctic bar The North Pole.

The ice rink – an established part of Manchester City Council’s and Spinningfields’ festive programme – will be situated on Hardman Boulevard. The rink opens on the 12th November 2009 and will run until 3rd January 2010, giving everyone an opportunity to take a spin on the ice.

Spinningfields

Popular temporary winter ‘pop-up’ bar The North Pole, which is relocating to Spinningfields this year, will be offering seasonal tipples including a sumptuous vodka infused ‘Winter Crumble’. Decked out with contemporary winter decor, pine trees and laid back furniture The North Pole will be the perfect place to relax after a spin on the ice or a hard day Christmas shopping.

Spinningfields, situated off Deansgate, is ideally located close to the city’s main shopping areas and offers an array of quality eateries including Giraffe, Carluccio’s, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Strada.

Councillor Pat Karney, the Council’s City Centre Chief said: “The outdoor ice rink brings a glamorous New York style atmosphere to the city. The rink has become one of Manchester’s most popular Christmas attractions and the addition of the North Pole bar is just another reason why Spinningfields is one of the best places to visit over the festive season. It’s the ideal place for families and friends to let their hair down or unwind after a busy day Christmas shopping and shows yet again why Manchester is the UK’s top Christmas city.”

Mark Burgess, Spinningfields Management Company Estates Director said: “Last year’s ice rink was a huge success and this year we wanted to build on that by creating an even bigger and better winter attraction.  The outdoor ice rink has become one of the city’s most popular Christmas activities and we are delighted that this year we have been able to bring additional attractions including The North Pole bar to Spinningfields.”

Special skating rates are available for families, groups of 10 or more and school visits. The rink is also available for private hire making it the ideal venue for office Christmas parties.   To book tickets call 0843 2081853 or visit www.quaytickets.com
