Bolton’s Egypt is a series of new galleries which celebrate the unique connection between Bolton and Ancient Egypt and highlight the town’s world-class collection of Egyptian artefacts.

SKV has a great track record in working within arts and culture. It has devised and delivered multiple national PR projects for The Lowry arts centre in Salford, Manchester’s Science & Industry Museum, Manchester City Art Gallery, and many others.

So when Bolton Museum asked us to handle the launch of their reborn Egyptian galleries, we utilised our many years of museum and gallery PR experience to great effect.

Working with two of the UK’s highest profile champions of Egyptology, Margaret Mountford – formerly of BBC’s The Apprentice – and the University of York’s Dr Joann Fletcher, together with Bolton’s museum team, SKV delivered a high profile national, regional and specialist media campaign which far exceeded the client’s expectations.

From Radio 4’s Today programme to a page-lead picture in the Daily Telegraph, from Radio 5 Live Breakfast to an ‘as live’ report on BBC North West Tonight the evening before opening, from a double-page spread in History Revealed magazine to numerous local blog features, and from an interview with museum manager Sam Elliot in Museums Journal to glowing reviews in both regional and national papers, SKV’s campaign ensured that anyone interested in seeing one of the finest, local authority-owned collections of Egyptian artefacts and ancient fabrics knew all about Bolton’s new stunning exhibition space.
