MOSI (Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester) has appointed SKV Communications to support its in-house team for the launch of its £8.5m redevelopment. Bigger, brighter and more visitor-friendly areas will emerge from the refurbishment, making better use of the available space inside the 130 year-old warehouse and transforming MOSI into a truly world-class cultural attraction.
The Museum’s new expanded gift shop, coffee shop, restaurant and a smart new conference centre, which are part of the redevelopment, are already open for business. A dedicated new learning suite, including science laboratory facilities, and two additional galleries are also set to open soon. In December, Revolution Manchester gallery will showcase the city’s greatest innovations and promises to bring the museum experience bang up to date, with breathtaking digital interpretation and games alongside intriguing collection items displayed for the first time. There will also be a new, expanded version of the popular hands-on Experiment gallery, which attracts thousands of children every year.
Last year MOSI appointed SKV to devise and deliver a co-ordinated social media and PR campaign to help support Da Vinci – The Genius, MOSI’s special exhibition for 2009/10.
Jill Flynn, MOSI’s Marketing Manager, said: “SKV’s creative and strategic approach means our teams work very well together. We are now looking forward to developing that relationship further, on what will be a very exciting and high profile PR campaign for MOSI.”
The SKV team for MOSI is MD Andy Spinoza, Associate Director Richard Bond and Account Executive Max Howard.
Richard Bond said: “MOSI is one of the North West’s most popular attractions and reflects Manchester’s considerable contribution to the shaping of the modern world. The refurbishments and new Revolution Manchester gallery will boost its appeal even more, and we are thrilled that we have been appointed to help communicate the new MOSI offer locally, regionally and nationally.”
