SKV called by Samaritans

Award winning communications agency SKV Communications has been called on by Samaritans to undertake PR around its Feel Good Friday fundraising campaign.

Samaritans helped over 193 000 callers over the Christmas period alone and tended to 2,316,949 contacts made by phone last year alone from people who are suffering with problems around emotional health.  The Surrey-headquartered charity has offices on Oxford Road in Manchester city centre which are manned 24 hours.

On 3rd February Samaritans is undertaking The Feelgood Friday event across the country to raise awareness of the vital work that the charity does year round.  SKV is creating an online Facebook competition for buskers to  upload their best feel good performances to be in with the chance of becoming the ‘Feel Good’ champion.

They are also calling upon prominent business people in the region to put their weight behind the campaign.  Apprentice star Ruth Badger, who is based in Salford Quays was one of the first to lend her support.

With extensive experience in the charity and third sector world, SKV has worked for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital charity alongside others within the Central Manchester University Trust  and understands the impact the current climate has on fundraising.  SKV Director Geraldine Vesey says, “Having worked on communications around campaigns aimed at both the B2B and B2C markets we know that there are challenges around getting your voice heard.  The Feel Good Friday campaign is designed to bring some joy to people at a particularly tough time of year and we are looking forward to promoting it as far and wide as possible.”

Claire Duncan of Samaritans said, “The creativity demonstrated by SKV in its pitch really stood out and we loved their unique approach to our communications. With SKV’s expertise we feel we can maximise awareness of our cause within the North West.”
