Following on from last year’s multi-award winning J’aime La Tour viral movie for Blackpool, SKV Communications has announced the formation of a film production division.
The move is in response to increasing demand for film and moving image content. This includes filming on behalf of Swinton Insurance for its Northern Ireland Open + Direct subsidiary, featuring the cult comedian May McFettridge, and a commission from Marketing Manchester to capture the development and opening of the city’s new visitor centre.
Other recent film projects include the UK launch of the Ultimate Dance Organisation’s High School Street dance championships featuring Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, Diversity’s Ashley Banjo, Britain’s Got Talent Winner George Sampson and Hip Hop star Chipmunk.
In addition SKV has produced video content for a range of clients including Europe’s largest multidisciplinary architecture practice BDP, Bury MBC and Tameside NHS Trust.
Headed up by company director Daniel Kennedy, writer and executive producer of the celebrated Blackpool video, the SKV film production arm has recently recruited two new staff; Dave McCormick and Gary Ellison.
Dave joins SKV as a senior cameraman. Previously he worked as a cameraman for the Royal Navy for over 20 years before freelancing for ITN and ITV.
Gary has been appointed by as a digital editor and producer. A graduate of University of Lancaster in Film & TV Production, Gary has worked as Director of Photography on a range of film projects as well making independent films. He has also worked for Sony as a technical trouble-shooter for computer games.
In addition SKV has created a separate production studio housed within its Manchester offices featuring two editing suites.
Commenting on the move into film production Daniel Kennedy said: “Video content is a key element in a multi-platform world and clients are becoming far more receptive about using moving image to support their wider marketing and communications activity.
“Since the Blackpool movie and all the awards it has collected, doors are opening up. Fusing SKV’s fantastic reputation and communications experience with high quality video and film production is an obvious move.
“We’ve invested in creating a dedicated in-house film division that is properly resourced and staffed by broadcast professionals who will work closely with the agency’s account teams.
“Dave and Gary are already both very busy creating and producing content for clients such as Swinton and Marketing Manchester and we’ve got numerous commissions already in the pipeline.”
Daniel Kennedy has also started an industry blog that focuses on viral content, digital news and online video distribution which you can find at https://danielkennedyblog.wordpress.com/
